Pregnancy and Postnatal Reformer Pilates

Pregnancy and the postnatal period bring significant changes to the body. Reformer Pilates can provide a supportive way to maintain strength, stability, flexibility and confidence in movement during this time.

At Ben’s Pilates, exercises are adapted to support the body throughout pregnancy and after birth. Sessions focus on controlled strength, stability, flexibility, mobility and body awareness, helping clients continue moving safely and confidently as the body changes.

The reformer allows resistance to be adjusted easily, making it possible to train with control while continuing to build strength and endurance. We also have additional equipment in the studio to support pregnant clients when lying on their backs, helping exercises remain comfortable and well supported.

Training During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, reformer training focuses on maintaining strength, supporting posture, improving stability, flexibility, Pelvic floor training ahead of birth and post natal recovery and helping clients feel connected to their body ahead of birth.

Pregnant clients are welcome in regular group classes, with movements adapted where needed throughout the session. For those who would like more personalised support, Strong Through Pregnancy is a dedicated pregnancy membership that combines private reformer sessions with regular group classes.

Returning to Movement After Birth

Postnatal reformer training helps rebuild strength gradually and restore confidence in movement.

Clients can return by joining regular group classes where exercises can be adapted as needed. We also run a weekly Mum & Baby Dynamic Reformer class on Wednesdays at 11am for those who prefer to train while bringing their baby along.

Private sessions are also available for those wanting more personalised guidance.

Training Safely

If you are pregnant or returning after birth, please let your instructor know before class so we can guide you appropriately.
